CPA's New Space for Young People

CPA's New Space for Young People

We are excited to share with you information about a new space offering warm care and deep listening for young people who want to explore, share and hear from others their experience of living in a time of climate and other crises

Starting on Wed 15th March and taking place monthly, this is an online drop-in space for young people aged 18 - 25 to talk about their awareness of the climate crisis (and any of the other crises currently occurring) with other young people who understand and who may be in a similar position.

It's also a space to learn straightforward resilience-building practices, and not just ‘talking about feelings’ but also attending to deep human needs for belonging, autonomy and being seen and heard.

CPA members, Jo McAndrews & Rachael Alexander, who are both skilled at facilitating and also feel strongly about the experience and care of young people, will be holding the space each month.

Jo is trained in arts psychotherapy and has been working for the last 25 years with young people, families and people who work with them, trying to improve understanding and meeting of young people’s needs. She works for radical system change to support children and young people in the face of climate emergency and feels fiercely protective of the well-being of young climate activists.

Rachael qualified as a psychologist ten years ago and specialises in working with children and parents experiencing trauma and attachment-related difficulties. Having children made her realise the importance of safe spaces for powerful feelings about the climate crisis and she is passionate about how we can stay connected, compassionate and resilient as we face what is happening.

Attendees are welcome to come as a one-off or every month as they prefer.
