What does it mean to be a good parent at this time? How do we feel knowing that our children face such an uncertain and challenging future, some more so than others?
It’s important to have a safe space to explore these sorts of questions and share the difficult and often complex thoughts and emotions that arise. Doing so enables us to think about the issues clearly and constructively, to feel heard, to realise that we are not alone in facing these difficult truths. It also means we are better equipped to help our children with managing their own climate distress.
In order to support parents and carers of children and young people - and with financial assistance from the Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Global - we are offering ongoing Climate Circles for Parents/Carers/Guardians.
What are Parent/Carer Climate Circles?
The intention is for each Circle to be a safe space for a small group of eight individuals to share difficult feelings about the climate crisis. They are similar to a Climate Café but led by facilitators who bring an understanding of the specific concerns that can come up for parents/carers and the impact that climate distress has on children and young people. These circles are focused on listening and sharing feelings and thoughts, not on offering guidance or advice. We believe that sharing big feelings with others is at the heart of resourcing parents to accompany the emotional world of their children.
As our Parent Climate Circles are scheduled you will find them on our Eventbrite page. Please register or join the waiting list if a suitable date is not available and do
