Those working in education and environmental movements may be familiar with the tensions between empowering youth (e.g. “young people will solve the climate crisis”) and supporting their emotional well-being (e.g. “we mustn’t scare children and young people”).

This workshop is for anyone working with children and young people in the climate/environmental sector, be that as part of a large organisation, activist network, school or other education settings, or small community group. Many organisations are recognising the challenge of supporting young people in the face of the truth about the climate and nature crisis. We hope attendees will:

  1. Better understand the possible emotional and psychological impact of the climate and ecological emergencies on children and young people
  2. Develop ideas for creating cultures of care within organisations to support young people's emotional needs.

We hope that, in addition to workshop content, attendees will benefit from the networking and learning opportunities across organisations.

Active in her local community she applies her skills to Youth Works, an alternative education provision and youth counselling service and co-founded MP Watch.
